Findings:  Observation #1

  1. Meetings are opened by calling the meeting to order.
  2. Students are always present at the SGA meetings.
  3. Sponsors are always present at the SGA meetings.
  4. Sponsors interject their thoughts whenever they feel it is necessary or helpful.
  5. The SGA members run the meeting.
  6. The SGA functions for business or governmental purposes only.
  7. Discussion takes place between SGA members and a facilitator.
  8. The president is usually the facilitator of discussions.
  9. Motions are made by members and discussion and a vote by the entire group follows.
  10. There is no opposition to motions that are voted on.
  11. SGA plans events and services on and off campus.
  12. Discussions are broken down into new business and old business.

A second observation will be done to check the validity of these commonalities found in the first observation.
